    I'm new to GOOWW but:

A few thoughts - when I think oregon woods, two come to mind - Myrtlewood, and Doug Fir - I think that Myrtlewood would be better for the cutting boards.   Thinking about the tools in my own shop, I would probably make up the boards, then cut the oregon shape with a CNC router.  I would then etch an appropriate image in the surface with a laser.

My CNC router will accommodate up to a 24 x 36" work piece, and my laser is limited to a 12x24 piece.

I don't know anything about the guilds CNC router, and I don't know if they have a laser....

    Greetings!

I've volunteered to produce 8 cutting boards in the shape of Oregon for awards for the National Day Sailers Races to held in Eugene on Fern Ridge Reservoir this July. The Day Sailer is a 60+ year old 17' sail boat designed for family fun and racing!

This event is sponsored by the Williamette Sailing Club and Eugene Yacht Club, both family oriented sailing organizations.

I'm new to the Guild and Oregon and would appreciate input for:

1 Suggested local wood type and source for cutting boards.

    2. Source for lasering on award logo (ex 2022 Day Sailer National Championship 1st Place, Fern Ridge Reservoir, Oregon)?

    3. Template for the shape of Oregon....

    Thanks in advance!
