Hand Tool Special Interest Group
CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER
Presenter: Ken Hall
Requirements: Intro to the Guild
This SIG is for anyone interested in hand tools no matter your skill or knowledge level. Come and learn or share your knowledge with other Guild members.
Topic for February 23, 2023:
Introduction to the benches in the Guild Studio
Come and visit the Guild’s Studio, a classroom designed for teaching hand tools as well as machine skills.
Ken will show you the several styles of benches that members built especially for hand tool use. These benches have features that will help you to hold your wood while using planes and hand saws. You will learn how to use vises with the Bench Crafted Crisscross or with the traditional wooden parallel guide.. We have both Roubo benches and Moravian benches. Come see the pros and cons of each of these bench designs.
If you are interested in making a bench of your own, this is a chance to ask the makers any questions that you have.
I would love to see you in the Studio, but a Zoom session will also be available.
