In this 2 day, hands on, class, taught by guild volunteers, you will learn to take a slab of wood from the un-milled stage through to a completed stool that you will take home to finish on your own. We will talk about design considerations and choosing the right layout for milling the wood for your stool. You will learn and participate in the milling, from start to finish. You will use a circle cutting jig on the bandsaw to cut the seat. You will learn to cut mortises for loose tenon joinery using a router and jigs. You will learn about the many pitfalls and adventures of a glue up and how to avoid them by learning to do a glue up successfully. There will, also, be a discussion about sanding and possible finishes for you to do at home or in your own shop.
