Wide Belt Sander Training for General Users

Everything you need to know for the proper use of the wide belt machine.  That includes getting to know all the parts of the machine; how to operate the machine and how to recognize when it’s not working correctly.  You will also be shown the proper way to remove and install the sanding belts and how to properly stow the belts not in use.  You’ll be required to do a complete start-up and shut-down, taking a rough board from the proper rough grit to a finished surface using finer belts and demonstrating the proper use of the platen.  Plan on taking copious notes and be sure to bring along your personal protection equipment.

A Shop Attendant needs to be an intermediate woodworker and is expected to work at least one shift a month, plus attend the monthly SA meeting.

If a member needs a refresher on a certain group of machines, they can sit in on a class for free, provided they have previously taken the class.
